After you’ve connected your Microsoft Entra ID integration, all selected users and groups will automatically sync to Substly.
In some cases, you may want to exclude certain users or groups — for example, service accounts, test users, or teams not relevant to your Substly setup.
This guide explains how to manage, ignore, and unignore users and groups in your integration.
Understanding “Ignore” in Substly
Ignoring a user or group prevents it from syncing or showing up in your dashboards — but it does not delete any existing data in Substly.
You can always unignore them later if you want them to appear again.
⚠️ Note: Once a user or group is ignored, Substly will skip it in future syncs until you unignore it.
Managing users and groups
You can manage both users and groups directly in the Microsoft Entra ID section of Substly.
Use the tabs to switch between Users and Groups, depending on what you want to update.
Ignoring users or groups
If you don’t want specific users or groups to appear in Substly, you can ignore them from the integration page.
Open the Microsoft Entra ID integration in Substly.
Go to the Users or Groups tab.
Locate the user or group you want to ignore.
Click Ignore next to their name.
The ignored user or group will immediately be excluded from future syncs and from any related dashboards or reports in Substly.
💡 Tip: If you want to ignore multiple users or groups at once, use the filters (such as Status or Department) to narrow down the list.
Then select multiple entries and click Ignore X users/groups to apply the change in bulk.
Unignoring users or groups
If you later want to include ignored users or groups again:
Go to the Microsoft Entra ID integration page.
Switch to the Users or Groups tab.
In the Status filter, select Ignored to view all currently ignored items.
Find the user or group you want to include again and click Unignore.
Unignored users will be automatically added back to your Substly account in the next sync cycle.
Keeping your sync clean
Regularly review your synced users and groups to ensure that only relevant data is included.
Using the ignore and unignore functions helps you keep your Substly environment tidy and focused on the teams and accounts that matter.
