Force Installing Substly Extension with Google Workspace Using the "Policy for Extension" Feature

In this example, administrators can deploy the Substly extension across all Google Workspace users by using the "Policy for Extension" feature.

Before proceeding with the installation, ensure that you have:

  1. Google Workspace Super Admin Access: Confirm that you have super administrative access to your Google Workspace account.

If your Cloud-managed Chrome Browser is active, please follow the instructions in this article.

  1. Log in to your Google Workspace Admin Console using your administrator credentials.
  2. In the Admin Console, go to "Devices" -> "Chrome" and select "Apps & Extensions".
  3. Switch to the "Users & browsers" tab.
  4. Navigate to "Groups" or "Organizational Units", depending on your configuration.
  5. Select the group or unit for which you would like to install the extension.
  6. Add the Substly Extension from the "Chrome Web Store".
  7. Once installed, select "Force install" under "Installation policy."
  8. Go to the Substly app and access the "Substly Extension -> Settings" tab. Copy the Client Key.
  9. Enter the JSON value {"ClientKey":{"Value":"YOUR-CLIENT-KEY"}}.
  10. Done! The extension is now installed on the Chrome browsers associated with the email addresses of your Substly users.

By following these steps, administrators can enforce the installation of the Substly Extension across all user accounts in their Google Workspace environment. This ensures consistent use of the extension, allowing organizations to gain new insights about usage.
